FREE FUN FRIDAYS! (in Massachusetts)

freefunfridays.events16210Each Friday this summer, from June 27 through August 29, five to eight museums and cultural venues across the commonwealth of Massachusetts will be open for free, as part of Free Fun Fridays. This is taking place thanks to a grant from The Highland Street Foundation.

Last year, our family went to the Norman Rockwell Museum, thanks to this program. The venue is on the list this year for August 29. Other venues in the 413 area code include:

MASS MoCA (June 27)
Amelia Park Children’s Museum (July 4)
The Eric Carle Museum (July 18)
Springfield Museums (July 18)
Hancock Shaker Village (August 1)
Berkshire Museum (August 22)
The Mount: Edith Wharton’s Home (august 29)

Some venues have special events. For instance, The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington will have on August 1:
...the wildly popular Magic Tree House series of children’s books by Mary Pope Osborne. The day will include two performances of Read! Read! Read!, a musical production celebrating the internationally best-selling books, featuring the beloved characters Jack and Annie. Show times for Read! Read! Read! are 11:00 am and 1:00pm. Other activities at the theater will occur from 10am to 3pm, and will include arts and crafts, movement explorations and Spanish-language activities, all related to the Magic Tree House theme.
