The Embedded Librarian

We often think of libraries as the primary task of an entity. Often, however, there are librarians embedded within larger organizations. Actually, that's true of my library colleagues and me within the New York State Small Business Development Center.

David Shumaker, Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Library and Information Science at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, submitted a paper about embedded librarians to the Special Libraries Association. It is now available on its website here.

Albany Public Library series: "Being Green" cosponsored by Committee on the Environment, AIA ENY, Honest Weight Coop, NYSERDA, and Friends of Albany Public Library.

June 19th, 7-9 pm, Main Library, Washington Ave. Jodi Smits Anderson of Collins + Scoville Architects and a LEED Certified Architect presents "Being Green 101" - the first of several public education forums on living and building green. In this basic introduction to sustainable design, Jodi will explore the whys and hows of designing
and building green.

Citizens for Public Transportation meeting

Citizens for Public Transportation will meet on Wednesday, June 20 at 7:00PM at the Albany Public Library, Washington Avenue, Albany. The speaker will be William Batt, of the Central Research Group. Central Research Group is a non-profit research organization exploring impacts of environmental taxes and fees and especially applications of ecological and Geovist economics in Tompkins County, N.Y. Mr. Batt will speak on the topic of Value Capture Finance for Transit.
