What's the Best Way to Read a Book?
Unless you are both an incredibly avid reader as well as someone who cares for their gadgets and does not replace or upgrade to new models, e-readers just simply don't live up to the lighter footprint they promise. Instead, we should stick with our library cards.

Proper Disposal of Household Prescriptions and Over-the-Counter Drugs
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has launched a new initiative to help reduce the growing presence of pharmaceuticals in water bodies in New York State. The "Don't Flush Your Drugs" campaign provides information about how to dispose of medicines properly to help prevent water quality problems in the future. EPA Libraries Reopening in Phone Booth-Sized Libraries
WASHINGTON, DC - May 21 - Ordered by Congress to re-open its shuttered libraries, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is grudgingly allocating only minimal space and resources, according to agency documents released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). At the same time, EPA is issuing a series of edicts placing virtually every aspect of library operations under centralized control of a political appointee. Read more here

The City of Albany is sponsoring an Earth Day Electronic and Room Air Conditioner Drop-Off Day on Saturday, April 26 from 7 AM to 1 PM at the Taft Furniture Parking lot, 1960 Central Avenue, 1 mile past Route 155--free to City of Albany residents only. June 19th, 7-9 pm, Main Library, Washington Ave. Jodi Smits Anderson of Collins + Scoville Architects and a LEED Certified Architect presents "Being Green 101" - the first of several public education forums on living and building green. In this basic introduction to sustainable design, Jodi will explore the whys and hows of designing
and building green.
